Planning Commission
The Planning Commission is a five-member Board, which acts as an advisory body to the Board of Supervisors. Responsibilities of the Planning Commission includes the review of all Subdivision and Land Development Plans and making recommendations to the Board of Supervisors. The Planning Commission also contributes to the review and update of the Townships Zoning and Subdivision and Land Development ordinances, which govern land use within the Township. The Planning Commission currently meets on the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Township Municipal Building. Additional time will be required for special Planning Commission meetings, projects, and plan review, as necessary. Applicants must residents of the Township. Each term of office is 4 years.
Zoning Hearing Board
The Allen Township Zoning Hearing Board is a five-member quasi-judicial Board, which hears landowner appeals for variances from or interpretation of the Zoning Ordinance. The Board meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Township Municipal Building on an as-needed, basis. Applicants must be residents of the Township. The term of office is 5 years.
In addition to appointment of regular member to both the Planning Commission and Zoning Hearing Board, the Board of Supervisors may consider appointment of Alternate members to serve on an as-needed basis when regular members are unavailable.
Professional architectural, engineering, building, planning or zoning experience is helpful but not required.
